火警發生時，真正令人措手不及的，往往不是眼前的火光，而是迅速蔓延的濃煙。濃煙會遮擋視線、刺激眼睛與呼吸道，亦可能令人短時間內迷失方向，影響逃生判斷。

In the event of a fire, it is often not the flames that catch people off guard first, but the smoke that spreads rapidly. Smoke can block visibility, irritate the eyes and respiratory system, and cause people to lose their sense of direction within a short time. 

由 2026年7月1日起，按本港民政事務總署牌照事務處的相關要求，酒店及賓館持牌人需要在處所內為住客及員工提供合適的防煙頭套，並設有 一年寬限期。這項安排提醒業界及早檢視客房數量、員工配置及實際使用需要，讓防煙面罩成為住宿安全配套的一部分，為每一位入住嘅旅客提供多一重安心保障。

From July 1, 2026, according to the relevant requirements of the Office of the Licensing Authority under the Home Affairs Department, licensed hotels and guesthouses are required to provide suitable smoke hoods for guests and staff within their premises, with a one-year grace period. This arrangement encourages operators to review room numbers, staffing needs and actual usage requirements in advance, making smoke hoods part of their essential safety provision and offering every guest an added layer of protection.
